About Me

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”
-Benjamin Franklin

Hi there! My name is Kristin but my friends call me Krasava.

I’ve been writing ever since the first grade when one of my poems was entered into a National Children’s Poetry Competition. In the fourth grade, I won another writing competition that was supposed to be for high school students on my analysis of Jack London’s “White Fang.”

Even though I loved writing fiction, I went to the National Technical Institute of the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in American Sign Language and English Interpretation with a minor in Creative Writing. I published my dissertation, “Going Public: How Social Media Affects Interpreter Ethics and Confidentiality,” shortly after graduating in 2013.

In 2015, I started writing the “Signs and Smoke Signals” Star Wars fanfiction trilogy, which amassed over 100,000 readers. Its success inspired me to create my own science fiction novel which is due for publication in March 2022.

In addition to my fictional works, I also work as a Senior Producer for The Blast news site. I also serve as a content contributor and Editor-in-Chief to the Star Wars entertainment website, Scavenger’s Holocron.

I also keep busy by working as a substitute teacher at a local high school and by editing college student essays in my spare time. I currently live on a small poultry farm with my husband, two puppies, two guinea pigs, and over 30 ducks, drakes, chickens, and roosters.

Right now, I am currently reading “Stuff Matters: Exploring the Marvelous Materials That Shape Our Man-Made World” by Mark Miodownik.
